Japanese pair of cloisonné enamel vases finely worked in silver wires with a sparrow in flight and the other sparrow perched on hibiscus branches in bloom, on a dark blue ground applied with copper gilt mounts signed with the Itō Soemon mark, Meiji period (1868-1912).
The artist won a silver medal at the Chicago Exposition in 1893 and at the St. Louis Exposition in 1904 for his cloisonne’ work.
