Japanese silver kodansu signed Miyamoto and Ginsei mark Meiji period

Japanese silver chest of drawers (kodansu 小箪笥) with a hinged door and three black lacquer drawers finely worked in katakiribori with bamboo, chrysanthemums, roses and sparrows perched on cherry blossoms branches, signed Miyamoto 宮本 and mark Ginsei 銀製 (silver), Meiji period (1868-1912).

The Miyamoto Shoko Company of Tokyo was founded in 1890 by Masaru Miyamoto and became renowned for his high quality silverware. He became Purveyor to The Imperial Household in 1899 as many fine pieces were purchased from the company who still continues to supply the Imperial Family of Japan today.
