Japanese bronze tiger drinking at the water's edge with a cub beside her, signed in a rectangular reserve Seiya saku 誠谷作 (made by Seiya), on a carved wood base Meiji period 1868-1912.

Dimensions of the wood base H 3cm (1.18" in.) x W 49cm (19.29" in.) x D 25cm (9.84" in.)

The Genryusai Seiya 源龍斎誠谷 workshop produced exotic animals, figures and ornamental objects during the Meiji era.

Tigers were a popular theme, symbolic of strenght and courage.
